The Most Expensive Pint in Britain By Simon Thompson |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Written by Lewis MacLean Apparently the most expensive areas for a pint in Britain today are Oxfordshire, Hampshire, Kent, Sussex and Bedfordshire... with the latest addition to the list being Scotland!? We all like a pint, but we aren’t all millionaires, so for most of us on a Friday night after a week of minimum wage slave labour, you can possibly just about muster up enough change for a beer and a burger at your local ‘spoons . When your lottery syndicate at work finally kicks in, try these for size:
10. The Eight Bells, Isle of Wight
A pint of lager here will set you back a total of £3.40... not in the usual price that landlubbers expect!
9. The Kings Arms, Oxford
Here you can sample a variety of guest ales for £3.45 – may as well hand over your arm and your leg while you’re at it!
8. The Smugglers Inn, Lymington, Hempshire
Expect to pay £3.65 for a pint of ale – we know Southerner’s are supposed to be quite well off, but come on!
7. The Bull, Barton Clay, Bedfordshire
A pint of Stella costs an eye-watering £3.95... how on earth do they bring in the customers?!
6. The Evening Star, Surrey Street
Fancy a pint of Tiger beer? That’ll cost £4.85 please... lucky if you walk away unscratched from that one!
5. The Three Bridges, South Queenferry, Edinburgh
Here, it costs £4.95 for a pint of Stella – they must be laughing if they think the change from a fiver will be going into their tip jar!
4. The Pub with No Name, Southover Street, Brighton
A pint of Brooklyn brewed craft beer will set you back a staggering £5.10. They may be called the Pub with No Name, but I have a name for them...
3. The Sussex Pub, Leicester Square, London
We all know that London prices are higher than the rest of the UK, but doesn’t £5.60 for a pint of Peroni sound a bit steep? How can they even charge that – does that include the airfare from Italy to bring it over?!
2. Coach & Horses, London
Also located in the West End of our fair nation’s capital, a pint of beer will cost up to £5.80. I’m guessing the bar tenders may be masked men with guns on horses?
1. The Cow Pub, Dyke Road, Brighton
If you really like the finer things in life (and have more money than sense), then head into our top spot pub, where you can enjoy a pint of Doggie Style craft beer at 5.5%, imported from America for an eye-watering £7.

Volunteering over the Christmas period |
|
Across the UK, thousands of people give up a few hours every Christmas to help those less fortunate than themselves.
Regardless of whether you’re a regular volunteer, or if you’re a total newbie, there’s volunteering opportunities for everyone.
