Student Article - Life in Hatfield
Author: Hasib Sunny
Although Hatfield is a quiet and uneventful town, studying at the University of Hertfordshire can be full of fun and excitement. The opening of the new uni nightclub called the “Forum” has added a list of night-time activities that you might be able to take advantage of while staying at campus. If you are a sports and health fanatic, you will be able to participate in a range of activities that are offered at the De Havilland Sports Village. The town centre’s about 10-15 minutes walk from both the campuses and there are frequent buses that go to and from the campus to the town centre and the train station.

University accommodation is excellent and is a nice place to meet new friends and hang about and there are countless take-aways and pizza deliveries which you would discover as soon as you move into the town. Even if you are living out of campus there is nothing much to worry about, Hatfield is a very safe town. The taxi service is very cheap (only 3.50 pounds anywhere in Hatfield!)And there are some decent and reasonable restaurants at the town centre and the Hill-top area. If you are into live music or take an interest in performing, there are open-mic nights every fortnight at the Ele House pub and karaoke in a couple of other pubs in the town called the Town Inn and the Harrier.St Albans is also very good for live music and nightlife and there is frequent bus service to and from St.Albans until 1 in the morning.

Hatfield is a nice and perfect little town for studying and if you still think it doesn’t offer you enough, London is only 20 minutes away by train!
