The overview

The main things you need to know about studying at the Australian Catholic University.

  • Rankings

ACU ranks high in various rankings, holding the 251st spot from 2021-22, a stellar rise from 501st in 2018. In the QS World Universities Ranking, it placed in the 801-1000 range 2018-2022, but continued to show steady improvement according to US News & World Report, coming from 653rd spot (2018) to 479th (2022).

  • Employability

The University boasts 1st place in Australia for graduate employment, and 2nd for graduate employer satisfaction. ACU offers a wide range of work-experience programmes, including a dedicated careers platform, on-campus work, and community engagement opportunities. There is a dedicated Careers and Employability team that supports the students during and for two years after the studies; they help sourcing work, internship, as well as assist in developing work-related skills.

  • Fees

Domestic and international fees are course dependent. Domestic students are offered a Commonwealth Supported Place, where the Australian government subsidises a portion of the fees, with the students paying the remainder. International students pay their fees individually; costs range from ca. $25,000pa to ca. $30,000pa, with medicine-related courses in the ‘Allied Health’ category ranging from $25,000 to $41,000pa

  • Bursaries

The ACU provides a variety of financial support measures to its students—both domestic and international. Domestic scholarships are divided between merit-based and equity. A wide range of eligibility criteria is used to assess applications; these include course type, campus location, citizenship, or family background, earning certain scores, financial circumstances, and year level. International students can take advantage of scholarships covering half the fees costs, 20% remission of rental fees, and others. The University advises students to apply for all scholarships they are eligible for, as there are no restrictions on holding more than one scholarship.

AFS says

Sydney is an iconic Australian city, often mistaken for the capital, and for good reason. You will never run out of things to do, from the vibrant art and cultural scene, excellent restaurants, bars and cafes, amazing weather (think Bondi Beach), and spectacular landmarks like the Opera House. Sydney is a city you will certainly love.
