Rankings
The University of Queensland ranks 3rd in Australia in the Times Higher Education rankings for 2023. It also ranked 53 worldwide in the same league table. It is placed at number 32 worldwide for Life Sciences and 28 for Psychology.
Employability
The university has a four staged student employability framework which includes awareness, experiences, learning and transfer. They offer a free online course called EMPLOY101x “Unlocking your employability”. Students can also achieve the Employability Award whilst at the university.
Fees
For domestic students, fees are Commonwealth supported, meaning it is partially funded by the Australian Government. The student contribution amount is the remainder each student pays based on the programme they take. International students pay fees based on their program and these increase annually. Bursaries
A range of scholarships and bursaries are offered by the university. Some include the UQ Link Scholarship, Destination Australia Scholarship and the Australian Muslim Academic Scholarship program. The university lists over 250 on their page.
Accommodation
The university of Queensland provides a range of accommodation for students. This includes on campus accommodation at their St Lucia campus- everything is within walking distance such as supermarkets, pharmacies and hairdressers. It is close to Brisbane city centre too. Off campus, students can live in private studio apartments, shared houses or dormitory-style rooms with students from other universities. Full details can be found here.

University of Queensland Union (UQU) has 220 affiliated clubs and societies consisting of over 29,000 students. It hosts 4500 events per year! In addition, UQU represents students by running independent services and events as well as outlets. This includes 11 retail food and beverage outlets on campus and their Student Advocacy and Support scheme.


Famous for
Being one of Australia’s top universities, the university is known for its high level of teaching and research. It has won the most national teaching awards of any university in Australia. It is also one of the only three Australian members of Universitas 21 and is a founding member of the Group of Eight universities.
News
In December 2022, researchers at the university secured $31 million from the National Health and Medical Research Council for life-changing health and medical research. The funding will investigate degenerative diseases, understand the causes of frailty and expand the use of technology in heart transplants to increase the donor heart rate and save more lives!

With a wide variety of bars, restaurants and parks, students have a large choice of venues to visit and socialise with friends at.
