But according to a recent Studentbeans.com survey, these ten universities are home to students take it to the next level—they’re drinking like it’s a competitive sport. Here are the top ten booziest universities in the UK. 1. University of York The University of York is the clear winner, with students drinking on average 19.73 alcohol units per week, which equals about ten pints of beer. York is the place to be if you’re hoping to go on a long pub crawl—you’ll have plenty of people willing to go with you. 2. University of Sussex Coming in second is the University of Sussex, where students drink an average of 18.20 alcohol units per week. When you go into the pubs in Brighton, you’re sure to find some Sussex students working on keeping this record. 3. Aberystwyth University The only Welsh university in the top ten, Aberystwyth students drink about 16.90 alcohol units per week. 4. University of Glasgow The only Scottish representative on this list, Glasgow students drink about 16.56 units of alcohol per week. 5. University of Plymouth Next in line is the University of Plymouth, where students drink a respectable 15.23 units of alcohol per week. 6. Durham University Another entry from the North, Durham students drink 15.07 alcohol units per week. 7. Bournemouth University Number seven comes from way down in the south of England. At Bournemouth, the average amount of alcohol consumed is 14.15 units per week. 8. University of Brighton University of Brighton students drink about 14.08 units of alcohol per week. Since Brighton is home to two of the top ten universities, there must always be a party going on in that city. 9. Sheffield Hallam University Sheffield Hallam students drink around 13.64 alcohol per week. Nearby University of Sheffield must be jealous that their neighbours are getting all the glory. 10. Lancaster University Finally, rounding out the list is Lancaster University, where students partake in an average of 13.32 alcohol units per week. These ten universities are the place to go if you’re looking for a fun night out. You’re sure to find plenty of parties going on at any of these booze-filled universities.
