Pamper yourself on a budget: Try these student beauty hacks!
Try out these great ideas to pamper yourself DIY style on a student budget.
Brighten up your skin and get rid of that student fatigue
Lemon Face mask:
One lemon, three stawberries and one banana.
Blend the strawberries and banana together and then add the juice of one lemon. Smear it all over your face and leave for at least fifteen minutes, or until it starts to feel dry, then wipe off with a damp cloth and splash your face with water. This mask is really simple and is basically packed full of vitamin C to brighten up your tired student skin.
Olive oil, brown sugar and sea salt.
Let’s face it, skin on our feet can not really be the nicest and often gets tough and dry. This exfoliate is a great way to get all that rough dead skin off. Soak your feet in warm water with the sea salt for ten minutes then mix two parts olive oil to three parts brown sugar and rub into your feet before rinsing. Apply your favourite body moisturiser to your feet afterwards, you can also put some socks on to keep all the moisture in. You will wake up in the morning with soft feet!
A soft soak:
Milk, honey, essential oil.
This one is great if you are simply looking to have a relaxing bath with just a few simply added extras. Milk has great smoothing and firming properties and is great to tone up your skin, whilst honey has natural antiseptic properties and therefore is great for acne prone skin and the removal of excess oil. Essential oil is a just a little added extra to make everything smell good. Mix together 150ml of milk, a tablespoon of honey and a few drop of the oil and hold until the hot running water in the bath for a soft soak.
Simple hair mask:
Yes that’s right, all you will need for this treatment is simply olive oil, it is better than any other expensive hair treatment in the stores!
Shampoo your hair like normal in the shower, towel dry it and add 2-4 tablespoons of olive oil into it. Wrap up your hair in a towel and leave for 15 minutes before washing out thoroughly in the shower.
Cooling and hydrating winter face mask:
Yogurt, honey, a little bit of aloe vera gel if you have it and a tea spoon of avocado.
This face mask is great for the winter months when your skin feels like it has been chafed and irritated by the cold and wind. Simply whizz up all the ingredients and apply to your face, you can always add more yoghurt if it is a little too thick. Let the mask dry for around 20 minutes, your face will feel so smooth and refreshed afterwards!
Body sugar scrub
One cup of brown sugar, one cup of porridge oats and one cup of olive oil.
Mix all the ingredients together and apply onto dry skin, rub in circular motions and wash off thoroughly. Take your time scrubbing, it’s meant to be a relaxing experience! Your skin will feel like butter afterwards!
All you will need for this is a lemon, cut it in two and rub it over any rough spots on your body, for example, elbows, knees and heels. It is great for softening up these areas and it’s so simple!
Some rather over the op added extras that you will make you feel like YOU’RE WORTH IT
Scented candles, light a few to add to the relaxing ambience of your evening, it will also make the room smell great.
A nice dressing gown, make sure you are cosy.
Tea, peppermint is great for aiding digestion, whilst green tea is good for speeding up your metabolic rate. Green tea is also packed with antioxidants and can be a great face mask ingredient.
Water, make sure, especially with all that bathing and steaming, you will need to keep your skin hydrated.
Relaxing music, put on your favourite mix.
This all may sound a little silly and over the top, but, remember, being a student is stressful.
Student levels of anxiety, depression and stress are at an all time high, higher than they have ever been. By taking some time for self care and looking after you, you can help to lessen these feelings.
