Summer is right around the corner, and I know you’re all wondering what you’re going to do with all of this time off. Well, I’m here to tell you all about what Sydney has to offer this summer to keep you busy, and ensure it’s the best summer ever!
Live music and festivals
If live music and festivals are your thing, I’d definitely recommend heading over to Cockatoo Island Sunset Sessions, where they’ll be holding open-air live music sets and indie acts on the lawn of Biloela House, overlooking Sydney Harbour. What better way to spend your evenings?
Sydney Festival will also be holding open-air symphonies and pop-up events all over the city this summer, so it’s a great opportunity to experience local arts!
Budget-friendly activities
There’s also a lot of budget-friendly activities in the summer, which are perfect for students not looking to spend loads to have a good time.
The Royal Botanic Garden is a beautiful place to relax with a picnic or even just have a walk through the subtropical rainforest sections which are right next to the harbour.
Not only this, but definitely keep an eye out at Carriageworks - they’ll be holding summer markets, roller discos and pop-up creative installations all summer long.
Beach days
With these activities, you’ll have the best summer. However, we can’t forget about the gorgeous beaches in Sydney, which offer the perfect place to rewind and just enjoy the summer with your mates.
Manly Beach and Shelly Beach are only a 30-minute ferry ride away from Circular Quay. Here, you can rent a board or take surfing lessons, and if you head over to Shelly Beach you can snorkel in protected coves, how cool!!
There is also a lovely coastal walk from Bondi to Coogee which features ocean views, hidden rock pools and iconic swimming spots like Bondi Icebergs. And of course, if you enjoy surfing, don’t forget to head over to URBNSURF, where you can partake in urban surfing and wave pools if you’re after consistent breaks away from the open ocean.
So these are just a couple of ways you can spend your summer in Sydney this year, but don’t forget to rest up so you’re ready for the next semester!
