Which universities did the Lionesses go to?

23 players were selected for the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 and all of them played a part in the Lionesses bringing home the trophy. But what about their previous, or in some cases, current, academic endeavours?

Beth Mead – Teesside University

Beth Mead graduated with a degree in sports development from Teesside University. After her graduation and following the Lionesses’ Euro 2022 victory, the university launched a Beth Mead scholarship in her honour.

The Tab says, “The scholarship provides four students a year with a bursary of £1,200 and continued athlete support.”

Michelle Agyemang – Kings College London

The youngest player on the team, aged 19, Michelle is currently a student at Kings College London, studying business management alongside playing for Arsenal Women.

Alessia Russo – University of North Carolina

Studying abroad, Alessia spent her time as a student at the University of North Carolina. In 2023, she was also awarded an honorary doctorate by Canterbury Christ Church University.

Lotte Wubben-Moy – University of North Carolina

Another UNC student, Lotte graduated with a major degree in sports and exercise science and a minor in art history.

Not only did Alessia and Lotte attend the same university, they also played football together there whilst in the USA, then they later became teammates for England and Arsenal too.

Lauren Hemp – Manchester Metropolitan University

Lauren graduated from the Met in 2021 with a sport coaching and development degree.

Esme Morgan – Manchester Metropolitan University

Also a former Manchester Met student, Esme graduated with a BSc (Hons) in sport and exercise science.

Anna Moorhouse – Liverpool Hope University

Like many of the other players, Anna chose her degree in sports and exercise science and studied in Liverpool.

Lucy Bronze – Leeds Beckett University

Lucy graduated from Leeds Beckett with a degree in sports science in 2013. In 2024, Lucy was also awarded an honorary doctorate from Leeds Beckett, for services to sport.

Niamh Charles – Liverpool John Moores University

Niamh graduated from John Moores with a degree in sports and exercise science.
