Bournemouth University

Bournemouth University dates back to the 1900’s with the establishment of Bournemouth Municipal College, it wasn’t until 1992 that Bournemouth University, as it’s known today, was established. The university has two campuses, the Talbot Campus, where most of the university faculties are, and the Lansdowne Campus, home to the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences. The university has around 19,000 students, 3,000 of which are international.

Students' Union

Bournemouth University Students’ Union was opened in 2015 and is based on the Talbot Campus. There are over 120 societies at the Students’ Union for students to join, and the Union also has its own venues including the nightclub and Dylan’s Kitchen and Bar. The aim of the Students’ Union is the represent the overall student body and the Union works across multiple departments to achieve this.

Famous for

Bournemouth University is particularly renowned for its media courses and for the work of its media department. It is the only centre for Excellence in Media Practise in the UK. Students from Bournemouth University of worked on Hollywood films, such as Gravity, Star Wars and Lord of the rings.
