5 Ways to Relax after Exams
By Amy Moore You’re nearly there. Those awful assignments are almost done and all that’s left is some last minute cramming for exams. When you’re done, you will immediately feel free and fabulous. The feeling of an elephant being lifted off your shoulders. Yet after a day, you might feel a bit numb, as if you don’t know what to do with this new found freedom. Fear not, as here are some suggestions on how to relax in the immediate aftermath of those exams. 1. Have a ‘me day’ You are going to be exhausted from all the stress during the exam period so a day to recuperate is a must. Have a duvet day where you can binge watch as much TV as you like without the guilt that you should be studying. Eat everything you shouldn’t eat and sleep as much as you want. You deserve to completely crash. It will give you a chance to unwind and get back to your normal self. 2. Get lost in a book If you’re a book worm, picking up a book will probably be the first thing you do to unwind. Even if you’re not, having the freedom to read anything that isn’t a course text will be a very welcome change. Getting lost in a good book is one of the best ways to relax and forget about the outside world for a while. 3. Have a dinner gathering Be it a BBQ or just ordering a pizza, having a dinner night with friends is the perfect way to catch up after the exams. If you’ve returned home from uni, it is a great excuse to invite old friends over. Have everyone bring different dishes or impress everyone with your ability to make a decent stir-fry. Whatever you do, it is a great way to chill and still have a good time. 4. Outdoor Events It may not feel like it but summer is here and there are plenty of outdoor events happening. From outdoor gigs to cinemas, there are plenty of events on to suit everyone’s preferences. Check websites like TimeOut.com for all the details about events happening in your area. 5. Take a road trip To fully relax, some people have to get away from their surroundings and immerse themselves in a new place. Visit an old friend or take a day trip to the seaside with a couple of pals. Getting out of the house and doing something carefree will relieve any exam stress you were still holding on to.
