Five of the Cruelest Halls Pranks

Living in student halls can be a lot of fun, especially when everyone’s in the same boat as new uni students and it’s most people’s first experience of living away from home. Playing pranks on your flatmates is pretty much a student rite of passage. Here’s five prank ideas that could liven up your flat this year…
Takeaway Switch-Up:
Late-night takeaways are a top-tier student staple, so why not have some fun pranking your hungry flatmates? When someone next orders a takeaway, offer to go down and collect it for them but swap out their dish for something like a side salad or something similar you’ve brought with you and see the look on their face when they think their burger has been mistaken in the order for a pile of leaves…
Alternatively, hide a couple of their items and pretend the delivery company has forgotten some of their food and wait for the super disappointed look on their face!
Bluetooth Pranks:
Almost every speaker, TV, or smart device has Bluetooth connectivity in a student flat... So use this to your advantage! Pair your phone with a flatmate’s speaker when they’re out and wait for the right moment to start playing something embarrassing or completely unexpected from it (bonus points if they have mates or a date round!). Whether it’s a playlist of random sound effects or a funny song on full volume, timing is everything so get ready to hit play...
Wrapped Up:
Flatmate popping home for the holidays or out for lectures all day? Take advantage by teaming up with your flatmates to wrap up everything in their room or kitchen cupboard with tin foil, wrapping paper, or cardboard! They’ll be super annoyed they have to unwrap everything once they’re back but definitely worth it for the priceless reaction…
Upside-Down:
Wait until everyone’s asleep or out for the evening or in lectures, then turn as many things in the kitchen upside down as possible. Cups, plates, pots, the toaster and even the fruit bowl. Watch for the confusion as your flatmates try to figure out what’s going on when they’re back and act just as clueless as they are…
Set Some Alarms:
If your mate steps out for a second without their phone, try setting a few alarms if it’s unlocked for when they’re next asleep or on a night out/studying… If you plan it right, it’ll be super embarrassing if it gets set off! Just be sure to not set them before an exam or in a lecture (maybe not the best idea…)
