Is this the poshest student yet? University fresher hires 12 servants

12 members of staff?

If you thought Prince Harry’s room was a little bit extra, then you’ve seen nothing yet.

A fresher at the University of St Andrews is hiring twelve servants to assist her throughout everyday student life; from cooking her meals through to waking her up in the morning to discuss possible outfit ideas.

The student will also have her own personal staff, maids and chauffeur to drive her to club nights, lectures and brunch.

In order to house all of these servants, the student, whose father is an Indian billionaire, has purchased her own mansion to stay in for the whole four years of her study- probably why she’s bagged herself a gardener and a few butlers.

The property will be the main abode of the student and hosts a rose garden, multiple bedrooms, a banqueting room and is constructed in the style of a Scottish castle!

The phenomenon came to public knowledge when reporters noticed that job vacancies were being posted on a very high end recruitment service; Silver Swan. The adverts were looking for a selection of staff, adding that the chef must have a good knowledge of Indian and Chinese cuisine, which are apparently favourites of the young student.

The advert for the maid enquired for an ‘outgoing, cheerful and energetic personality’, you’d need that waking up a fresher for their 9am lecture.

The staff in general, are to be paid £30,000 for their service throughout the year, with some tasks as simple as opening doors for the fresher, who is clearly accustomed to living a very extravagant life.

The butler will set the table for the fresher’s breakfast, lunch and dinner whilst the gardener will maintain the grounds.

So, whilst we’re all here with our pot noodles and pasta and pesto this fresher’s week, there’s a student out there sitting down to a three course meal that she didn’t’ even have to make…

Despite the extravagance of this whole affair, according to the Telegraph, St Andrews is no stranger to rich students, with around 58 per cent of its students being completely financially independent, with no need for a loan.

The university also housed the likes of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, commonly known as Kate and Wills for their university experience; meaning that they’re no stranger to posh peers- however, this young student may be the wealthiest (and the most extra) to date!
