The Green is a £40 million development on the university’s main campus.
Comprising blocks of six storey flats and four storey townhouses, students are also surrounded by landscaped gardens, BBQ areas and lawns.
The Green is the first student housing in England to win the BREEAM outstanding accolade.
BREEAM is an international standard for sustainable building design, construction and operation and is a benchmark for environmental performance.
The Green is also a highly sustainable development harnessing solar power and rainwater to cut the cost of heating and lighting.
The apartment and townhouse blocks surround a central water feature - a biodiversity pond which reuses rain water, provides a home for a number of ducks, birds and plants and offers a cool place to meet in the summer.
The university won the title at the College and University Business Officers (CUBO) Awards.
Bradford University spokesman Chris Spargo said; “We proud of this award and everything it stands for. We set out to deliver one, if not, the best quality, and most sustainable student residences. This award voted by our peers demonstrates we have achieved that vision.
“The best student housing title was achieved through innovation, ongoing successful partnerships work by our accommodation and facilities team, which constantly exceeds the expectations of residents.”
