RLA: Cardiff waste/Recycling collection consultation
The Residential Landlords Association (RLA) are encouraging possible responders to engage with Cardiff Council's new waste and recycling consultation. Cardiff Council want the views of local people. The council, in partnership with the Welsh Assembly Government, wants to "design a service that can meet expected demand for waste minimisation, reuse, recycling and diversion from landfill for the next 25 years."

The RLA state: "With landfill tax set to increase and mandatory recycling rates it is crucial for recycling to be optimised for local councils. However, there are costs implications for the council when engaging in new recycling streams and rationally discovering what residents are actually committed to doing in an important part of increasing recycling while lowering costs."

Cardiff Council, according to it's own data, has 12,872 privately rented properties within it's boundaries. The National Audit Office for Wales, states that Cardiff landlords account for 52.8% of student-led rentals. The HMO status and landfill tax requirements could mean landlords facing massive cost increases.

The Residential Landlords Association wants landlords to engage with the survey in order to help maximise refuse and recycling collection services and facilities. The RLA believe this can help the council and landlords "increase recycling whilst lowering costs."
