One of the common trends of recent years has been the fact that the quality of student accommodation is changing and this is due, in large part, to the provision of private residential halls for students from private developers.
The knock-on effect of this is that student landlords are having to improve their offerings too, and we are also seeing universities making big leaps in improving their residential halls as well.
This latter issue has come to the fore since universities generally only provide accommodation for their first year students. However, with the growing numbers of young people going to university this is no longer a guarantee. In addition, young people are more demanding in their needs from accommodation providers, and are looking for more of a home-from-home experience.

Students today are certainly not looking for the grotty bedsits which most people believe are the only types of accommodation available for students today.
The trend toward boosting student homes is a natural reaction to the high quality offerings from the providers of private student residential halls. Here’s how private halls are increasingly becoming the preference for students across the country.
Firstly, private halls for students can be lived in for the duration of the student’s studies; this is not the case if they sign up with the university first and then have to find their own accommodation afterwards.
The nature of taking up studying has changed and with the cost of tuition being so expensive, students are also looking for more professionalism from accommodation providers. This means that, as a minimum, they want modern and clean rooms with ensuite facilities. In addition, excellent Wi-Fi coverage should be a standard offering, and rent should be inclusive of any bills.

While university residential halls may be cheaper, they don’t offer the same level of quality and privacy.
Those who opt to live in student accommodation from private landlords will also generally find that their rent is not bills inclusive, and they will have to pay extra for Wi-Fi.
This means that the nature of student accommodation providers is changing and they are becoming more professional in their attitudes and offering; most private residential halls for students have been in new-build properties or recently converted ones. This means there will be no problems with damp and cold, for instance.
