Following the successful launch of Risk Free Bills Inclusive last year, our partners, Glide, the specialist student utilities and service provider, have launched an exclusive new broadband product, which comes fully loaded withBrowzer to revolutionise broadband in the student rental market.

We’ve put a few questions to Richard Price, Director of Sales at Glide to explain it.

What is Browzer?

Browzer is part of our new broadband product. In a nutshell Browzer is a bespoke webpage that provides an innovative solution for landlords and letting agents to engage with tenants. The fully customisable homepage can be used as a communications tool to connect with their student tenants. It features magazine style articles, written by student content experts and is presented to tenants the first time they log on to the Internet each morning.

Fine Tuned for off-campus private housing

Browzer has already been operating effectively in many Halls of Residence across the UK giving Universities the opportunity to successfully communicate with their students. We’ve just taken the platform to fine tune and offer out to off-campus private housing.

How will Browzer benefit landlords and letting agents?

Not only will it increase their presence in the property, we will also be able to help them safeguard against rental arrears. They will have the ability to suspend individual broadband access, across all devices if a tenant falls behind on their rent. No other tenants would be affected, which we believe is a first in the market, allowing tenants that pay their rent not be penalised by other tenants’ actions. Traditionally landlords and letting agents have been forced to block broadband access for the entire house.

Unique attributes of Glide’s Broadband include:

· Browzer: Engage with tenants by effectively sharing updates whilst building a community. Share special offers in the local area and important notices about property maintenance. Opportunity to boost revenue via third party promotions and sponsored content.

Strong Connectivity: Glide, via Cablecom, now has its own national network, which has given the company far greater control over connectivity and speeds. Glide promises superfast broadband that won’t slow down during peak times.

Direct Support: Glide offers 24/7 support for all tenants, regardless of who holds the contract. This means that students can call the special student focussed call centre direct, without having to go through their landlord, if issues arise.

· Rent Collection solution : Restrict an individual’s broadband usage if payments are missed, safeguarding against rent arrears.

Our annual report on student living, What Students Seek , found that students living in private rented accommodation were twice as likely to report problems regarding communication than those living in student halls. Keeping in touch with your tenants is an increasing challenge for letting agents and landlords, which was a key driver for Glide in developing our broadband product and taking Browzer to the private rental market.

As with all of Glide’s products, this broadband package has been designed to make lives simpler for landlords and letting agents, while meeting the needs of students.
