Top UK university accommodation rankings for 2026 revealed

Edge Hill University has secured the top spot in the 2026 student accommodation league tables released by Uni Compare.
The platform's rankings, derived from 28,430 verified reviews across 209 UK universities, highlight the critical role of quality housing in shaping student experiences.
Since launching its accommodation rankings in 2020, the platform has built a robust database of 151,805 reviews, establishing itself as a vital resource for prospective students.
Students handed Edge Hill an impressive accommodation score of 4.3 and a 98% recommendation rate, reflecting exceptional student satisfaction.
Accommodation shapes the uni experience
The firm's founder, Owen O'Neill, said: "These rankings highlight that accommodation is more than simply a place to sleep – it shapes the overall university experience.
"Quality housing affects how students settle in, form friendships and feel about their university choice.
"The high recommendation rates we're seeing, particularly Newcastle's perfect score alongside their top accommodation rating, show that getting the fundamentals right makes a real difference to student satisfaction."

The top 5 best ranked
The rankings see Liverpool John Moores University following Edge Hill closely in second place with a score of 4.14 and a 97% recommendation rate.
Newcastle University claims the third spot with an identical score of 4.14 and a flawless 100% recommendation rate.
The University of Liverpool and the University of Lincoln round out the top five, scoring 4.11 and 4.1, with recommendation rates of 99% and 89%, respectively.
The rankings are based on student feedback gathered via Uni Compare's website and mobile app with verification processes.

Uni Compare says the top five universities showcase a range of strengths.
While Liverpool John Moores boasts the highest overall score of 4.22, Newcastle's perfect recommendation rate underscores its ability to meet student expectations.
Modern facilities, prime locations and vibrant campus communities help contribute to the high scores, which range from 3.97 to 4.3 across the top institutions.
The platform says the rankings offer prospective students with valuable insights into the accommodation quality they can expect, a key factor influencing academic success and personal wellbeing during their university years.
