Leeds Arts Universityis a specialist higher education institution based in Leeds, with the main campus next door to the University of Leeds. It is the only specialist arts university in the North of England and allows students to enjoy a small, close-knit community of like-minded people.     Leeds Arts University was awarded Silver in the Teaching Excellence Framework and id ranked 6th in the University of the Year category at the 2019 Whatuni Student Choice Awards and received a 4.4-star overall rating in 2024.

  • Employability

    Leeds Arts University connects its students to industry professionals while they are studying, providing them with lots of opportunities to build skills and experience. For those hoping to become freelance, the Careers Team will help them prepare for their career once they have graduated.

  • Fees

    UK and EU students will pay £9,250 per year to study at Leeds Arts University, while international students will pay £17,500 per year (or £18,600 for the BMus (Hons) Courses. These are the current fees for 2024/2025 and may rise each year.

  • Bursaries

    The University has a number of bursaries available for students who need some support. These include the Creative Practice Support Bursary, the internally Progressing Students, Support for Costs of Materials, Care Leavers Bursaries and a Higher Education Hardship Fund. Students are required to submit separate applications for each of these bursaries.

Accommodation

Leeds Arts University accommodation offers first year students the opportunity to live with other creative students from the university with rent costs that are reasonable for the quality and the available facilities. The accommodation is safe and secure, with only your other flat mates have access to the flat and communal space. Alternatively, AFS has some great suggestions for private accommodation.

Students' Union

As a specialist arts union, Leeds Arts Union strives to offer students as many creative opportunities as possible. This includes exhibition, performances, arts markets, workshops and more. Students are given the chance to collaborate with one another, with the Union offering support wherever it is needed.

Famous for

The University is well known for its vast scope of art courses, despite it being a small university in size. This includes animation, comic and concept art, creative advertising, creative writing, fashion branding, graphic design, illustration and many more.

News

In the last month, many students from the University have either been shortlisted or won prestigious awards for their work. Digital comic competitions, textiles awards and sculpture awards are a few of the recent achievements. In December, a student also won the Penguin Random House Student Design Award 2020.
