Liverpool John Moores University has been ranked in the top 10 universities in the UK, according to StudentCrowd Best UK Universities Awards 2026. LJMU is also in the top 4th in the UK for employability, 3rd for student life and 8th for course quality (Uni Compare University Rankings 2027).
Employability
Many of the undergraduate degrees at Liverpool John Moores University offer opportunities for work-related learning alongside your studies. Students have done placements at a wide-range of places, including Jaguar Landrover, Disney and various museums. LJMU even features in Rate My Placement’s Best 50 Universities in the UK for Work Experience 2025-26, in 14th place.
Fees
Tuition fees for home students in September 2026 will be £9,790 for the 2026/27 academic year, subject to Parliamentary approval. In England and Wales, tuition fees for home undergraduate students are set in accordance with the Government’s regulated fee cap. The Government has confirmed that this cap will be £9,790 for 2026/27 and £10,050 for 2027/28, in both cases subject to Parliamentary approval.
Bursaries
LJMU offers a range of bursaries and scholarships to reward success and to encourage able students to reach their potential regardless of background or personal situation. Our scholarships include: The Academic Excellence Scholarship, The Community Excellence Scholarship, The LJMU Opportunity Scholarship, The Sir Bert Massie Scholarship, and The Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship.

Students' Union
John Moores’ Student’s Union (JMSU) focuses completely on students and their university experience. As well as a wide range of activities and social events, the Union also runs services and support networks to help everyone get the best out of their time at university. There are societies for every interest, from Taylor Swift to True Crime.

Liverpool was named as the best UK city 2026 by the The Telegraph, and it’s easy to see why – famed for its friendly people, its music history, its sport, as well as its vibrant nightlife and green spaces, you’ll feel at home in Liverpool. It is also home to the most museums and galleries in the UK outside of London! LJMU itself also has several famous alumni, including Claire Foy, Nisha Katona and Sean Curran.
News
Thanks to the cutting-edge research taking place at Liverpool John Moores University, there’s always exciting stuff going on here. For example, the Queen Elizabeth Prizes for Education has just recognised our Face Lab, our pioneering craniofacial analysis unit that combines art and science. We are also home to the Law School of the Year (Educate North Awards 2026). Our Astrophysics Institute has also just embarked on a ten-year project - a time-lapse video of the entire southern sky to create an ultra-wide, ultra-high-definition record of our Universe.
