Wrexham Glyndwr University was granted university status 2008. Prior to that it had been part of the University of Wales. It has a long history, having roots as the school of Science and Art way back in 1887. Over 5,000 students attend each year.

  • Fees

    Fees are £9000 a year for full time undergraduates, both UK and EU.

  • Bursaries

    All Welsh students are eligible for up to £9225 funding support given through grants and loans and eligible students will also receive £1000 from the government. Students with dependants can receive loans based on their specific circumstances in the following categories: Adult Dependants’ Grant in either Wales, England or Northern Ireland; Parents’ Learning Allowance from either Wales, England or Northern Ireland; and Childcare Grant for Wales, England or Northern Ireland. Accommodation

The university offers accommodation on both its Plas Coch campus and Corbishly Hall campus as well as private lets around the campus area. There is no guarantee that you will get a room but priority is given to first years, full time students, students who have never been to the university, students from far away and students with social and/or physical needs. Rooms range from en suit bedrooms on Plas Coch and single rooms on Corbishly Hall. More information can be found here.

The University has an award winning Students’ Union, with the Union team winning the NUS national award for campaigning against period poverty! With an extensive merchandise shop and a great Bar and Pizzeria, the students’ union caters to your needs and shopping wishes!

Famous for

The university is actually named after the Welsh prince Owain Glyndwr who suggested opening Welsh universities in the early 15th century!

News

The University announced in 2020 that it was starting new courses for undergraduates and post graduates. These include animal behaviour, veterinary nursing, human resource management and entrepreneurship.
