University residences which are generally full of first year undergraduates are a great way to adjust to living away from home and making new friends. Uni halls are usually located close to campus.
Generally offer a higher level of amenities than University Halls, at higher rents. Will be home to a more diverse mix of students and normally located close to campus.
A house share with a group of friends is often the lowest cost option and popular as the next step after living in Halls. Typically located in student friendly areas which require some travel to University.
A flat or apartment is similar to a house share on a smaller scale and will normally have one or two bedrooms. Ideal for smaller groups or couples.

Situated on the banks of the River Tyne, Newcastle is the most populous city in the North East. The two universities in the area are Newcastle University and Northumbria University. Newcastle University is a Russell Group University which won the Sunday Times University of the Year award in 2000. Northumbria University was voted ‘Best New University’ by The Times in 2005.
Newcastle sits at ninth position in the retail centre expenditure league in the UK, with several shopping areas being situated in the centre of Newcastle itself. Eldon Square shopping centre is home to many high street stores, whereas Northumberland Street is full of designer boutiques if you want to splash the cash.
If nightlife is your thing, then you may be interested to learn that Newcastle is in the top ten of the UK's top night spots. Head to the Biggs Market and Quayside areas to find a high concentration of bars, pubs and nightclubs. There is also a wide range of restaurants dotted throughout the city as well, with cuisines ranging from American, French, Japanese, Italian, Greek, Mexican and Spanish being available.
Newcastle is also home to many festivals as well, including the Newcastle Festival of Beer which takes place every April and is organised by CAMRA. There is also a huge music festival called ‘This is Tomorrow’ which takes place annually as well.
There is also a strong sporting culture in Newcastle too, which mostly centres around St James Park – which is home to Newcastle FC. Newcastle also has a Rugby Union and Rugby League team, with the Newcastle Falcons being the only north-east team to have played in the Aviva Premiership. Gosforth Park is the home of horse racing in Newcastle, and basketball and speedway are other popular forms of entertainment.
